From Criticism to Confidence: My journey to Chic Wig Boutique

From Criticism to Confidence: My Journey to Chic Wig Boutique

Hi, I’m Denise Torres, a fashion wig expert and author. Today, I want to share my journey from battling low self-esteem to embracing my truth and finding self-approval. Growing up, I faced many challenges, but overcoming them has led me to create Chic Wig Boutique and help others find their confidence through wigs.

The Early Struggles

Growing up, I constantly battled low self-esteem, feeling unworthy in the eyes of my older sister. Born on the same day, seven years apart, we were like rivals. She loved cake; I preferred ice cream. Her idea of constructive criticism was correcting my pronunciation in a dramatic, Oscar-worthy manner.

Picture this: at a backyard gathering, she catches me picking at the grapes. With a quick command, “Must I teach you etiquette? You don’t pick from the bowl; you place them on your plate.†Living with her was like living with an etiquette trainer and grammar police, but without the badges. I sought her approval, but it was always out of reach.

Turning Point

Self-doubt crept into my life like a snail, leaving trails of uncertainty. At a crossroads, you can allow negative words to define you as a prisoner from reaching your true fate or use them as fuel to empower yourself. I used negative words to strengthen me. If misery loves company, don’t allow someone else’s insecurities to become yours.

In my pursuit of approval and not feeling defeated, I majored in business computer information systems to impress my sister and divorced my artistic side. She believed there was no money in art unless you were dead. I convinced myself that I didn’t need the Fashion Institute of Technology when I could master the art of programming. However, technology was not my passion, leaving me disappointed with mediocre grades. Eventually I discovered my passion as an entrepreneur. Despite the wrong direction, my sister’s financial foresight led me to become a creative business computer wizard. Designing my Chic wig boutique website and social media marketing for my business elevated my career.

The Catalyst for Change

Change happens when you either get burnt out or have no choice because of life’s circumstances. For me, it was both. I got burnt out being a people pleaser, subconsciously overcompensating for the approval of others because my sister’s expectations were too far out of reach. That’s when I delved into the book “Boundaries”

Shortly after, I was in a car accident that changed the trajectory of my life in the blink of an eye. I lost my house, kids, marriage, and business. Sometimes, you have to go through the furnace to be refined like gold. Losing everything became the catalyst for finding my inner confidence and truth.

Today, as a self-published author, I use fear as a friend, empowering me to face adversity uncomfortably until I’m comfortable successfully. Losing everything led me to embrace my truth and gain inner confidence. My memoir, “Eloped the Mental Hospital with the Whisper of God’s Voice,” is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

In conclusion, get rid of the lies you tell yourself, embrace your own truth, and don’t let negative words define you. Deception is a snake in disguise, and there’s immense power in overcoming what the enemy tries to suppress. Find your inner confidence while elevating your outward appearance and live your truth.

By sharing my journey, I hope to inspire others to embrace their truth and find confidence looking radiant A white background with a blue and red pattern.through the magic of wigs.
